Frequently Asked Questions

Austin, Texas

  • How long are the fitting appointments?
I set aside an hour per fitting. Depending on your dress and what we are doing , it can be the whole hour or be as quick as 20 min.
  • What do I bring to my fittings?
Shoes and any undergarments you want to wear or try on with the dress. You’re also welcome to bring the veil and any accessories you wish to see with the dress.
  • When should I book my first alterations appointment?
As soon as you have ordered your dress. I get booked 6months to a year in advance and take 10-12 brides a month. It fills up quickly. If you wait you could end up not getting a spot with the seamstress you want to work with or having to pay a rush fee.
  • How many fittings will I have?
On average you will have 3 fittings. If the dress is multiple sizes too big, you will have 4 possibly 5 to get the most precise fit.
  • When is payment due?
Payment is due at the final fitting. You are more than welcome to pay upfront or pay in payments. I take cash, check, card, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal
  • Can I bring anyone with me?
You are welcome to bring 1-2 people as my space is small.
  • Am I able to bring any other dresses I may wear for my rehearsal or reception?
Yes! I can alter any other garment you are wearing for your event.
  • Where are you located?
I am located in south Austin near Wm. Cannon and Mencheca. My studio is inside my home
  • Q: How much should I budget for dress alterations at Sew In Love By Brand?
A: Alterations costs at Sew In Love By Brand depend on the dress you have chosen and the specific adjustments required to achieve the perfect fit. As a general guideline, we advise our brides to set aside $1000 for alterations. While it is often the case that the actual cost will be less than this amount, having a dedicated budget can alleviate any potential stress and ensure that you are prepared for any necessary alterations to make your dress perfectly tailored to you.
  • What is a Rush Fee?
Rush fees are added to any alterations needing to be done in a short amount of time. This is because I work on dresses for months at a time, so adding a dress into an already full schedule requires longer sewing days, often sewing on my days off and into the evenings. For bridal, you want to start 12 weeks or more before your weeding. Rush fees begin at 10 weeks or less. 10 weeks = $100 8 weeks = $150 6 weeks = $250 4 weeks = $400 If the 8-12 week timeline is not available, a rush fee will apply in a tiered system. $300 for less than 6 weeks before the wedding day. $400 for less than 4 weeks before the wedding day. $600 for less than 2 weeks before the wedding day. $1000 for 3 days before the wedding day. I have brides use these services at every tier. The most frequent on is the 4 week timeline. I live in Austin, Texas and my non-rushed ticket averages from $750 - $1000.
